This is the Golden Wedding of Mr and Mrs Sargent of Littlefield Lane.
The man in the background is Vernan Walter Midgeley. He became a well known opera singer but stayed with the Sargents whilst training at Agricultural College before a change of career.

These spoons were presented to Maria Atkinson -known as Granny Ack or Mother Ack - in July 1959 after serving 23 years as caretaker of the East End Methodist Chapel.
She was 74 years old at the time of the prsentation.
The East End Chapel has now been demolished but used to stand on Sea Dyke Way near the War Memorial.

Henry and Lizzie Hook
Lizzie was the sister of Sarah Jane -known as Sally - Patrick, Fanny Epton - Pinder by her second marriage - Clara Stubbs and Annie Dowlman - the maiden name of the sisters was Johnson.

This photograph shows Henry Marshall, who owned the corner shop on Sea Dyke Way and Littlefeld Lane, sitting in his car outside the blue bungalow which used to stand in Littlefield Lane, to the rear of his shop. A house now stands on this site. To the right of the photograph the lady with the baby is Beattie, Henrys first wife, who sadly died as a result of a fire. Their son, Charles survived.
The photograph was thought to have been taken around 1934. Also in the background, behind Beattie, can be seen a horse drawn vehicle which was used in his business.
