The legend on the reverse of the postcard reads "Taken at Hull June 1938".

This extract (probably from the Grimsby Evening Telegraph) appeared in an article with only a partial date of 1970

At a guess this group photograph would have been taken in the 1940s.

School Ring Game - c.1951
This game may have been "Waiting for a partner" when a boy went in first, chose a wife -much giggling from the rest.
The wife then chose a child and the child chose a dog.
You were unlucky if you happened to be chosen as the last line of the song was "We all pat the dog" which could turn out to be quite painful".
