School

C.2000

The legend on the bottom of the photograph reads "Marshchapel School Drill".
This looks like some form of physical exercise and there are an amazing number of pupils but remember they did not leave this school until they were 14 years old.
From the clothing and hairstyles of the adults this photograph could date from the very early 1900s.

This photograph probably dates round about the same time as the previous one i.e. early 1900s.
The Infant Class contained 26 pupils looking at this photograph.

Another School Drill dating from the early 1900s.
It is impossible to count the number of pupils shown here but it must have been a very well attended school.
The White Horse Inn can be seen in the background.

The legend on the reverse of this photograph, which was made into a postcard, reads: "Marshchapel School. The Staff? Before 1914".
