The legend on the bottom of the photograph reads "Marshchapel School Drill".
This looks like some form of physical exercise and there are an amazing number of pupils but remember they did not leave this school until they were 14 years old.
From the clothing and hairstyles of the adults this photograph could date from the very early 1900s.
