Marshchapel village in the snow - 28th. February 2018.

"Sunnydene", Church Lane - Marshchapel.

This house stands at the end of Duckthorpe Lane, near the junction of Sea Dyke Way.
It was originally one property, then converted to two, and has now been converted back to one property.

This was the home of Joseph and Florence Elvin, on the corner of Sea Dyke Way and North Lane.
A relative remembers there being a well in the back garden and a range of outbuildings going down North Lane.

This property is "Firsway" in Church Lane, Marshchapel,
which was the home of Roy and June Johnson for many years.

This photograph is of the property which used to stand near the Canal at Firebeacon Bridge.
It was originally a pub called the "Ship and Horns"
On the right still stands the original warehousing where the bargees would have unloaded their cargo
and visited the pub before moving on to their next destination.

This photograph was probably taken in the early 20th century.
The view is taken in Sea Dyke Way looking down the road towards the Blacksmiths workshop, Bonners Cottage, with the corner shop and chapel on the right.
The children are approaching the gates of the Hall and the photograph was made into a postcard.

This photograph is of a property which used to stand near the Canal at Firebeacon Bridge.

After the war, some of the windows were altered.

When compared to a pre-WW2 photograph, it can be seen that some of the sash windows have been removed and replaced with plain glass.

Marshchapel Combined Trust, Semi-detached Cottages on Sea Dyke Way.

A previous occupant was Mrs Pennell who lived to be 99 years old.

This photograph has been taken from Littlefield Lane, looking towards the Marshchapel Combined Trust Semi-detached Cottages on Sea Dyke Way.
This land, also belonging to the trust, is referred to as "The Gardens", rather than the allotments. The reason for this is that they were originally the
gardens of a row of cottages that were owned by the trust. In the late 1800s a fire broke out in one of the cottages causing severe damage.
They were eventually demolished and the pair of semi-detached cottages on Sea Dyke Way were built in their place.

"Wyngarth" - Sea Dyke Way, Marshchapel. (on the way to Eskham).
This was the former home of Len and Mirrie Leak and their family.
Apparantly, the front door was a false one.

This property in Firebeacon Lane, Marshchapel, was the home
of Len and Mirrie Leak and their family for several years.
The property was owned by Jack Burgess (known as "Wacky"), who was a farmer in Marshchapel.

The property in this photograph is down Firebeacon Lane (coming from main road 1031, it is the first on the right).
The property was owned by Jack Burgess, a Marshchapel farmer and Len and Mirrie Leak left Fieldsend Terrace to move into this property.
