Hallgarth (Hallgarth runs from the Village Stores to Duckthorpe Lane).
The garden wall is the approximate location of the old thatched cottage which still existed in the early 1930s.
Also in this location was a Methodist Preaching House which as built in 1795. The original plaque for this can be seen in the Chapel.

Although this photograph had nothing written on the reverse to say where it is, it may be another view of Lewis farm, Marshchapel.

In the background on the right is "The Limes" and on the left is the site of the old Church Institute hut.

This photograph of Norman Cottage (called "Norman House"in this picture) was turned into a postcard but unfortunately the date is unknown.

The legend on the reverse of this photograph reads:
"Lewis Farm, Marshchapel. April 5th 1915.

Stuart Granthams Mini
In the background can be seen the house they used to live in which was in front of the Village Hall.
This was demolished as part of a road widening scheme which didnt go ahead. The mini is parked outside "Sunnydene", the property the Granthams moved into.
The photograph was taken circa 1963.

This photograph is of Stuart Grantham in his Boy Scout uniform and was taken around 1957/8.
However, in the background is the old pea vining shed housing the stationary pea viner. This was used in the days when a tractor and trailer would deliver the peas from the field to be "podded" in the stationary viner - before mobile pea viners were invented.
This was situated in Mill Lane and belonged to Mossops Farm.
The pea season was always an opportunity for the local children to wait in an advantageous place (i.e. under low hanging tree branches) waiting for pea to be knocked off the trailer and then eating them.
Sometimes they were grabbed directly from the back of the trailer - a rather more dangerous pursuit.

This photograph was taken on the way out of Marshchapel towards North Cotes.

In the foreground is Kath Grantham with her son Stuart.
In the background can be seen the house the Granthams lived in next to the offices and joinery workhop of Mr. Rigall on Sea Dyke Way opposite the War Memorial.

This cottage was in West End, Marshchapel (a continuation of Church Lane travelling from the village and was located past the Church on the left)
A bungalow is now on this site.

The last mud and stud cottage in the village. Thi photograph was taken on 27 January 1979.

This property still exists and is on the righthand side leaving Eskham and travelling towards Grainthorpe.

"The Elms". Sea Dyke Way, Marshchapel.
This house is between what used to be The Greyhound Inn and the Charity Trust cottages.

The old Bakery can be seen behind the trees on the left of the photograph.
Further down the road can be seen a wooden hut which was the workplace of Leofric Jacklin the cobbler. On the righthand side of the photograph is a wooden building with rather grand arched windows and this was Riggalls workshop.

This is on the left hand side when leaving Marshchapel travelling towards North Cotes.

Now demolished.

This photograph is of "The White Cottage" which is situated on the corner of Hallgarth and Duckthorpe Lane. This view of the cottage was taken from Hallgarth with Duckthorpe Lane at the rear of the picture.
