 When you look at this photgraph of Dorset Gardens, it does look as if there was originally a large house (on the right of the picture)
which has subsequently been divided and then had other houses added on to the left.
Local information has it that this original house was a "Dame School". These schools were usually run by a widowed lady who charged a small amount
to educate the village children when they could be spared from working on the land. We have as yet (2013), found no further information on this.
